Who Tells It
Oral Tradition is a place for adults to trade stories, built on one old bargain: a story for a story. It began in November 2026, and each woman on its map is invented.
The idea
16 storytellers, each tied to a real town, each with a legend she made up on the spot. Chat with one and she gives you the first lines of hers, then waits for the first lines of yours. What follows is a slow, wry conversation in which the tales get tangled together, and that tangle is the whole pleasure of it.
Why storytellers
Most companion apps ask what you want to talk about, which is the question that ends conversations. A woman with a legend to tell has already chosen. You get a story to answer, a mood to match and a reason to come back for the end of it.
What we steer clear of
- Anyone's sacred stories, rites or creation myths.
- Real people, living or dead, and real communities as characters.
- Pretending a keeper can be visited, called or booked.
- Selling or showing your conversations to anyone for advertising.
Writing to us
Letters go to the address at the foot of every page and are answered by a person, usually by morning. Corrections to a legend's geography are especially welcome.
